By definition, photography is the science or art of creating permanent images and I have always wanted to capture the best views and landscapes to preserve those memories.
Photography is without a doubt one of the most popular hobbies. However, a lot of people that want to get into photography face the dilemma of choosing the right DSLR camera. My story was not
any different. Being a complete beginner meant that I had trouble choosing the right camera. As a hiking fanatic, I always enjoyed taking pictures of breath taking sceneries and nature however my compact camera did not produce the desirable results. Therefore, I decided to step up the level and change my old compact camera for a DSLR camera.
As a newbie to the camera world, I decided that it was important for the camera to be easy to use, affordable but also be able to take high quality photos. After conducting days of research, I found that the two major players when it comes to DSLR cameras are Canon and Nikon. With this in mind, I looked at the entry level cameras from both companies. Canon's entry level camera is the EOS 1300D and Nikon's entry level camera is D3300. I had to make a decision but I did not know which one would be better for me.
On my journey of choosing the best camera, I spoke with a few friends that are already advanced in photography and I received positive feedback for both Canon and Nikon. In addition to this, I read many reviews to support my decision. After trying both cameras, there was some details that made me choose Nikon over Canon. As I was not experienced in this field, I found that Nikon was easier to use for me compared to Canon. Therefore, before making your final decision, I would suggest that you
try both brands and find out which brand will fit your personal preferences the most.
In my next post we will take a closer look at camera lenses so be sure to look out for that.
